I finally took a full two week vacation. Lorene and I flew to Rome, my second visit to the city and her first time in Europe. Our hotel was in Trastevere, a really cool neighborhood with shops, plazas, and tons of restaurants. It was not too bad a walk to both the Colosseum one day and the Vatican, the next. We also bought tickets aboard the hop on hop off bus and rode around the city a few times getting off at points of interest. We then boarded a Mediterranean cruise that had wonderful ports. We planned excursions in each port city – Santorini, Ephesus, Mykonos, and Naples where we took an excursion to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii.
